Playing with Form & Function
Essence Illumined is my ever-evolving way of expressing a new understanding of a natural, self-organizing system that links science and spirit with music, math, and art.
This understanding is called Mereon. To learn more about this work, please visit us at www.mereon.org.
I love the dance of moving between the discrete worlds of science, academia and business, and during the inbetween times I rediscover bliss when I am able to play in my atelier, blessed to freely express the joy of a artistic dilettante!
With a camera in one hand, and a paintbrush in the other, I love finding ways to show or express a deep knowing that everything is connected. Thus, my art is simply my way of expressing this quest, each image the creation of a bridge that I hope illumines that connection and helps viewers 'walk' to a new perspective. Using a paintbrush, a palette knife or better yet, my fingers, I love building layers and playing with colours, using a canvas to construct and then highlight the diverse forms that generate a profound unity. With photography, what's most fun for me is finding the light, humour and whimsy that runs through both natural and social systems! To be able to share that which I resonate with is most satisfying. Years have shown me that authenticity, being open, ready and willing to laugh is what leads to an evolving understanding of self and other. A calculus of vulnerability, such self-knowing and compassion is essential to healthy relationships, and the key to flowing and growing.
